May Meeting

The next meeting of the Georgia Nature-based Tourism Association will be held on Tuesday, May 15 at the Satilla County Park located along the beautiful Satilla River in Woodbine. The host will be the Kingsland Convention & Visitor's Bureau. A guest speaker will speak on the Satilla River and area nature trails. In the afternoon, those attending the meeting will be given a chance to take a guided, educational tour of the Riverwalk. Lunch will be "brown-bags" style courtesy of the host at the park's picnic area (covered sites available).

Directions

The site is located just north of Woodbine in Camden County directly at the foot of Hwy 17 bridge over the Satilla River. Coming from the North it is to the left (west) & from the South- the right (east). Follow the signage.

Woodbine

The city of Woodbine was named for the beautiful Woodbine vine which still grows freely throughout the city as a constant reminder that Woodbine remains the natural beauty for which it was originally named. Perched on the shores of the pristine Satilla River, Woodbine has the perfect climate for year-round activities such as fishing, boating, birdwatching, etc. at the local waterfront park. It is also famous for being the Crawfish Capitol of Georgia with an annual Crawfish Festival being held on the last Saturday in April. Of historical interest, Woodbine is the county seat for Camden County, and its courthouse is being renovated as a historic site.

Membership Renewal Changes

In April the Board of Directors voted to modify the membership renewal process. The grace period for renewals was eliminated. All payments for annual renewal are now due at the first of the month of their anniversary date. Reminders will be sent prior to that date, and if payment is not received by the designated deadline, the member in default will be dropped from all GNTA rolls, directories, and website. We thank the members who have been diligent in their support (on many levels) of the GNTA. With everyone's assistance, we can continue to grow and accomplish our mission. Remember, all contributions are now tax-deductible.

Directory Updates

The Membership & Resource Directory has been updated and sent to members (e-mail or snail). Please note changes in member information and the addition/subtraction of various members.

Welcome New Members

The GNTA would like to welcome to our ranks the following members who have joined (or rejoined) the Association: Center for a Sustainable Coast, City of Fargo, Georgia Wildlife Federation, National Wildlife Federation, Oke Trail Masters, and The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island. Please check-out their complete listings in the Directory, and use the GNTA Web site to click onto their respective sites for more detailed information.

Send Us Your News

If you know of any interesting nature news, conservation concerns, or nature-based events and conferences, please help spread the word by sending a notice to the GNTA by the newsletter deadline. At each meeting member newsletters or other informative documents will be available for perusal by the attendees.
